Does P2Pool charge any pool fees?

No. Monero P2Pool charges 0% pool fees, so it does not take a percentage of your mining rewards. You can still have electricity costs, hardware costs, and possibly a separate mining-software donation, but those are not fees charged by P2Pool.

What “0% pool fees” means for you

A mining pool lets you combine your mining work with other people’s work, so you have more frequent chances of sharing a reward. Traditional pools often keep a small percentage of that reward to pay their operator.

P2Pool works differently. It is a decentralized pool, meaning there is no central operator holding everyone’s rewards and taking a cut.

If your mining work qualifies for a payout when P2Pool finds a Monero block, your share is paid directly to your wallet in that block. P2Pool does not first send it to a pool account and then deduct an operator’s fee.

That means 0% is the pool’s fee rate, not a promise that mining has no expenses or that you will earn a particular amount.

Are there payout or withdrawal fees?

With P2Pool itself, there is no withdrawal fee and no minimum withdrawal balance. You do not build up a balance on a pool website and ask an operator to release it.

Instead, P2Pool tracks qualifying “shares.” A share is proof that your miner has done a certain amount of work. When P2Pool finds a Monero block, miners with eligible shares in its recent payout window receive their portions directly.

There is no separate payout transaction for P2Pool to charge you for. However, two details matter:

  • Your payout is newly mined Monero, so it must wait 60 blocks, roughly two hours, before you can spend it.
  • When you later send that Monero from your wallet, you pay a normal Monero network transaction fee. That is not a P2Pool fee.

No minimum withdrawal balance does not mean every tiny amount of work earns an immediate payment. You still need qualifying shares, and P2Pool still needs to find blocks.

Costs that can be confused with pool fees

Your setup may have costs even though P2Pool takes no cut:

  • Electricity: Your processor uses power while mining.
  • Hardware: Sustained use adds heat and wear, and buying equipment is a separate expense.
  • Node resources: A Monero node—the software that checks and shares blockchain data—uses storage and internet bandwidth if you run one yourself.
  • Mining-software donations: Some mining programs devote a small amount of mining time to their developers by default. Check your program’s settings and documentation.

If you use a browser service, hosted miner, or another service that says it connects to P2Pool, check that service’s terms separately. P2Pool being free does not mean every service built around it is free. A provider may impose its own fees, payout rules, or deductions.

The bottom line

P2Pool itself charges no pool fee, no withdrawal fee, and has no minimum withdrawal balance. Your eligible rewards go directly to your wallet, without a pool operator taking a percentage.

Before you start, check your mining software’s donation settings and any third-party service charges. Those are separate from P2Pool’s genuine 0% pool fee.
